So early this week when I got sick Dallin gave me a blessing. It really helped put my mind at ease about the kids, I knew that if they caught this they were going to be okay. Well despite me being very diligent at wearing my mask, washing hands, and not touching anything, Brinley and Porter both came down with fevers on Thursday night. Brinley had a very tough night and we were able to get Porter's fever down quick and he went back to sleep easy. The next day I called the pediatrician and became concerned when they said they are running out of the medicine for children so they are only treating high risk kids. So they saw Brinley. This poor girl has had a bad week. She has never been sick before and this week she has had pink eye, swine flu, and we found out she has thrush too. So that explained her crying all night. Anyways here is the cool story. Last night all the kids were doing really well and they were finally sleeping and fevers were down, it was great. Then Porter woke up. His fever was up a bit but mostly his throat was killing him. That really scared him. He has never been sick much and it was very upsetting to him last night. He did not understand why his mouth was hurting and it just did not make any sense to him. I picked him out of bed and took him to my room. I was giving him medicine and he asked me where Dad was. Poor Dallin has been sleeping downstairs all week so that he won't get sick from me. I told Porter that and asked if he wanted me to get him. He then said "I need Dad to give me a prayer on my head". I told him we could do that. It means so much to me that of all things that we have talked with the kids about, that when we talked about what a blessing is and when we should have one, that this got through. With all the medicine I gave him last night he kept feeling frantic and kept saying "it's not working". I tried explaining to him that it takes time for medicine to work. But it was making him scared that it still hurt. Then he would ask again when Dad was coming because he needed a prayer on his head. When Dallin was giving him his blessing, he got so calm. After, he was ready to go to bed and this morning he told me that he is all better now. I told him we should still take it easy and keep doing our medicine to help his body stay better, but his faith overwhelmed me. Dallin and I were talking about it this morning and we sometimes wonder if the veil is thinner for him. He just has always known and understood who Jesus is and that we need to have faith in him. Now if I could just convince him that we go to church for Jesus maybe he would not fight me every Sunday about going. But he still does not believe me on that one. The amazing part about all of this is that he did not see me get a blessing this week. He remembered from past experiences of being sick and getting a blessing of how it made him feel and he knew and had faith to know that was what he needed. Just another tender mercy of the Lord.
This picture was from earlier this week. It was the night Brinley got sick. Dallin still wanted to hold her so he wore one of our masks. He has been so wonderful trying to keep us all from getting sick and working hard around the house to help me sanitize and clean. He has been great with the kids and helped them try to feel better. As long as I don't get a fever today I will be considered no longer contagious. Yeah!!!! I just hope the kids get better by Halloween so they can still trick or treat.

What a sweet story. I am glad his blessing helped him to feel a bit better.
This thing is never ending. I thought Arley was doing better, and then his fever came back yesterday.
Oh goodness, Season I really hope that your house is rid of the swine flu really quickly! I can't believe Dallin has managed to not get it.
That is so incredible how Porter grasps the concept of a Father's Priesthood blessing and faith so well. He is so amazing. You are all such good examples.
Porter is so sweet. I love it when my kids ask for blessings too - at least we are doing something right - they know how to get help when they need it.
What a great story. You have an amazing little family Season!
