Pink eye, swine flu, and super saturday

It has been an interesting week. We started off the week with Brinley getting pink eye. By the next day Bennett also had pink eye. Looking back this has probably saved us. They are doing well and their eyes look fine now but I am continuing the medication for the week. Because of this we have been extra vigilant at hand washing scrubbing everything down and not letting the kids play with the babies. It has been hard on me because I have not really held my babies all week. They have spent a lot of time, anywhere but in my arms. Well then I started to get a sore throat. Day one my throat hurt it was a little annoying very small fever, achy but nothing big. The next day my throat still hurt but no fever and I was feeling really good. The next morning I wake up feel awesome, still sore throat and I start cleaning and try to catch up on the house. Within a couple of hours I was really sick. So I went in to the doctor. By now I have a throat that is killing me, lots of achiness and I am exhausted. I went in thinking I had strep throat, but wanted to double check because I had just heard that my neighbors across the street had 4 cases of swine flu. We have not been around then since last Friday so I thought we were fine, but I wanted to be safe. Go in no strep but I tested positive for swine flu. I come home with expensive meds and a box of face masks that I have been wearing all around the house. I am no longer holding the babies at all. I won't touch the dishes, and am sanitize everything I come near. Dallin has spent the day today outside of the house with the kids. He is getting a lot done and he keeps saying that this week has been really fun for him because he has been able to play so much more with Brinley. He is discovering that she really is cute and sweet all the time. Luckily the moment I got a sore throat we decided Dallin should sleep downstairs so that he wouldn't get sick. So he has not been around me much at all.

So what does this all have to do with Super Saturday you may be asking? Well I am in charge of it and it is this Saturday. Obviously I will not be going and I have spent the morning delegating my jobs out. But I am really kinda sad not to be there. I have put all this work into it and I was looking forward to spending the day with the sister's in my ward. But such is life. I am sure that the women will just do a wonderful job getting things done for me and it will turn out great. If there is one thing I have learned from having Porter is not to sweat the small stuff. Super Saturday is the small stuff, keeping my kids from getting sick that is the big stuff. We are keeping ourselves away from everyone for awhile. The doctor said I am contagious until 5 days after no longer having a fever. I had a small fever again last night so I am still contagious. I hope to get better quick and keep it away from the kids. Keep my little kiddo's in your prayers especially Brinley and Bennett. Bennett also has asthma so if he got sick it could be really bad.

One last thing, my cute little pregnant sister, her little boy, and my Dad also have swine flu this week. They are in Idaho and we were never around each other, but I just want everyone to know lots of people are catching this, what is scary about it is not how sick you can get it is how contagious it is. So be extra careful with your families and I would say take hand sanitizer with you everywhere. I probably picked it up from the store. Be careful and keep your families well.

I read on the internet today that if you gargle antibacterial mouthwash three times a day, it keeps you from getting it.
