I have really been out of it lately and I can't believe I have not gotten these up yet. Sorry Grandparents. SO here are just a couple from his birthday. He had a pretty good day and was a little overwhelmed but overall I think had a good day. This top picture, the cute boys across the street made Porter a sign for his birthday and this is him with them in front of it.

They gave him this awesome knight stuff, which is what he wants to grow up to be, so perfect.

He enjoyed opening prestents and as always is happy with everything. His favorite was a spiderman watch from Nickelle. Pretty cool.

Here he is in his new BYU hat. He loves it. A couple years ago his Grandpa Dirk gave him a hat with a dog on it and he has loved that hat, it is the only one he wears, but it has gotten VERY small. So I was glad we could finally find something new for him to wear. He loves it and wears it everywhere, along with his BYU football shirt. What a cute kid. It is still hard to believe he is 5. He has grown a lot this year and for the first time ever made it into the 50th for height and weight. We even have a game plan to help him not loose weight this year through the winter and I think he can keep up his good growth. We are going to start potty training him on Tuesday. Wish us luck! Mentally I am really nervous about the work ahead and how he will do, but I am very excited for him and this new phase. Wow, I might be down to 2 in diapers. He is doing good in school and has only had a couple days where he did not want to work. He has done pretty good at home and has only had a few hard days lately which has been great. I am constantly blown away with his progress, and he amazes me. One thing I have noticed though is that the more he speaks and understands the more I have to watch myself. He takes everything so literally. If I ask him to do something he follows it like law and if someone else steps in to help or if the rules can change, it is very upsetting to him. It is great that he is trying so much harder to do what we ask, but I do have to pay attention to what I say. For example I told him today he needed to lay down on the couch and rest his body while the other kids napped. I turned on a show for him and went upstairs to finish laundry. I came down and he told me he was very thirsty and asked if he could get a drink. Normally he would have just gone and gotten one, but because I told him to stay, he did not think he could move. You may be thinking this would make him very obedient but the usual things he is in trouble for he still does. The hardest thing is learning to think before how I word things for him so he can understand what we need. He struggles with lots of variables. What an amazing 5 years it has been. I love this kid so much, and it was wonderful to get to celebrate his birthday.
