Porter's biggest blessing and greatest curse!

So anyone who knows Porter knows that when he has his mind on something he can be impossible to get his mind on anything else. This has been a wonderful blessing when it comes to therapy if we can get him excited and really wanting to figure something out he will do nothing but work at that until he has it. Sometimes I am not sure if DETERMINATION is a strong enough word for what he can be like. Anyways lately this has been much more of a curse than a blessing because he has had more time on his hands and the combination of winter and the holidays are very tuff on him. Anyways lately he has cranked up the whole getting into trouble thing. I find that if I am not watching him every second he comes up with some great idea. For example he is constantly getting out of the house and will just end up next door, he has figured out how to unlock the windows and we find him hanging out his bedroom window which he has successfully torn the screen on as well. Also he is big into flooding the bathroom either by the sink or the tub. He will lock himself and then fill it up. He is constantly running away from us in public, we have lost him more times than I can count, and the harness is not working anymore. These are just a couple things, trust me he has been doing so much more. Anyways today I am doing my hair, which for this very reason does not happen very often. So I have all the kids in my room watching a show so I can get ready because I am going on a date with Dallin tonight!(YEAH) I peek out at the kids and Porter ducks down beside my bed, which means he is hiding something naughty. So I start walking over and the closer I get I notice an orange on the bed with a knife in the middle of it. So immediately I start moving faster. There is Porter with a great big cut in his finger with blood everywhere. Of course he is not crying because he never cries when he is hurt. Long story short luckily he did not need stitches but it was still a pretty bad cut. About a week ago he became really obsessed with knives and so I have got to come up with someway that he can't get a hold of them. The hardest is when they are in the dishwasher. I am finding every year of his life that it is getting harder and harder to keep him alive. I just keep thinking Terrible two's I would take any day over a busy four year old that is a evil genius and can get into anything and can figure out how to get to anything he wants. The hardest part is when I say he does not get consequences that means that they do not phase him he has no clue that he is in trouble. Oh boy gotta love it!

How lucky that he didn't cut his finger any worse or need stitches. Hope your date went good.

Yikes! Isn't it scary when they don't even act like they're hurt? Lorien cut her hand with a rotary cutter from my sewing room once, and I didn't even know it till I found blood. She never complained! I don't get it.
