Dearest Dallin,
To say you are a wonderful Dad is a understatement. I will never forget the moment that I first told you, that you were going to be a Father, after the shock wore off, the first thing you did was start planning out how you were going to take care of all of us. You have spent thousands of hours of sacrifice to provide for us so that I can be here at home with the kids. While in college you worked two jobs to be able to make it work along with constant demanding church service. But you are so much more than the family provider. You are the kids hero and closet friend. You are the one that they spend all day anticipating when you will come home so they can be with you. You are the one that if you are even wearing a hat then the kids have to go and find theirs so they can look just like you. You are the one they cheer in all things even down to playing guitar hero and Nickelle can give you a high five. You are also the one that when you say no they take you seriously.
I have watched as each time I gave birth to one of our babies you cried and just could not take enough pictures of each one of them. I have watched as you have taught them the smile, walk, talk, run, and wrestle. You have taught them to pray and to love God. You have taught them to work hard and to enjoy working. You have taught them to laugh and not take themselves too seriously. You have showed them how you love me and have taught them to respect and honor me as their Mother. You have worried and prayed for them. You have been at every doctor's appointment you could get too as well as every important appointment with therapists etc... You have been involved in schooling, and therapy. You have given our kids the most priceless gift your time.
I could say so much more on the kind of Father you are. I have one story of you that symbolizes to me how you are as a Father. You had a dream. You decided you wanted to learn to road bike. You spent hundreds of hours training and pushing yourself to be able to do this. Then you took it to the next level and decided you wanted to ride Latoja (that is a race where you ride you bike from Logan Utah to Jackson Hole Wyoming in one day). The day of the race came and I loved watching you at every pit stop. I would watch as you came smiling and so happy to see me at each stop. It looked like this race was not even fazing you. Then I arrive at a pit stop only to see hundreds of riders coming in frozen and sick because of a snow storm on the highest point of the race. I watched in fear as hundreds of professional racers with struggling with hypothermia. They started sending rescue buses to get riders of the peak. Right and left everyone was dropping out the race. There was more snow up ahead. With every bus load my heart would stop, I was hoping you were on the bus and safe. Then after what felt like forever I see you riding your bike up to the pit stop. You were still smiling. Then you shocked me with what came next. You just wanted some more clothes because you were going to keep riding. I am ashamed to admit I asked you to stop to not ride further. But that is not who you are. You are a man who endures all things and looks his challenges in the face, smiling and rides on. That is just what you did. All the riders you rode with that day quite so you finished the race all alone. It was a crazy day and your body endured incredible things. But you persevered and continued onward, ever onward. When you crossed the finish line I could not help but cry, I was so glad it was over and you no longer had to suffer, but also because I was so proud of what you had just accomplished. I know you can do anything you set your mind too and because of your incredible strength you keep us all on a firm foundation. I love you so much for the man that you are!! You are my hero too.
Happy Father's Day!
