My Amazing Mom

This was m y Beautiful Mom when she was a little girl. She grew up in Bountiful Utah and this is a part of their backyard you can see it overlooks all of Bountiful. My Mom turned 50 this week and I wanted to post a few of my favorites of someone I love so stinkin much!
As you can see from both these pictures my Mom loves animals. As a little girl she sold cherries from her Dad's tree so she could save and buy a horse. She was able to get a horse and she continued to work so she could afford to feed and take care of him. She learned how to take care of a horse and train him. She eventually competed with her horse and won some awards. But most of all my Mom loved riding him bareback in the mountains of Bountiful. She actually prayed if she should marry my Dad where the temple is now in Bountiful and where I got married. My Mom loves nature and she is truly at peace when she can be outdoors. That is partly why she loves to work so much in the yard. But that is also because of her love for my Grandpa that instilled in her a love for working in the yard.
My Mom is graceful, elegant, and is incredibly full of depth. She has always lived humbly but done it with such a beautiful attitude. She fell for my Dad and has spent my entire life showing us that he is the most important thing in her life. I think we have all as kids been jealous of how much extra spoiling my Dad has received but as I got older I realized how wonderful it has always been to have parents who truly are devoted to one another. They love each other so deeply and have spent years doing things with one another they would never have done if it wasn't because they loved each other so much. My Mom is amazing at that.
My Mom is without a doubt a individual. She has always inspired me because she has always known who she is. As a young mother sometimes you can feel that you are so defined by Mothering that you are not sure who you even are outside of that. My Mom has always shown us girls that she knows who she is and made time for things that mattered to her. She is a realist and taught us to be ok with what is real and how to endure the hard things in life. My Mom has taught me incredible lessons of sacrifice. I remember as a young girl Jan and I made some snotty remark to her about her clothes and saying something like "why don't you wear cool clothes Mom? Why don't you ever buy anything new?" She taught us through example that she was willing to give all she could for us kids and that included at times nicer clothes. What stinkers we were.
This was a really neat moment for me. When I was in labor with Porter my Mom and my Mother in law were able to be in the room right next to me and hear everything that was going on. I felt so much braver knowing she was there. Being a mother has truly taught me what all she gave for me. She has been a wonderful cheerleader for me and has helped me get through some amazing times. She is a wonderful Grandmother and my children look up to her so much.

Very nice post. I don't think we ever met your mother, but now I wish we had.

what a wonderful tribute! i think it's funny that the older we get, the more we can relate to and understand our moms (and i'm not even a mom yet). i still have so much more to learn!! your mom seems like an amazing person.

I really like that last picture. The expressions on their faces says so much. . .especially with how hard your labor/delivery were with Porter. Hope you are doing well. We love you!
